Large wall-mounted displays are also becoming popular for smaller personal display purposes such as a refrigerator or desk clock. These personalized displays are getting more common place in homes and small offices as well. They are starting to really pop up in high profile settings as well.

The way that these displays work is actually very easy to understand and explain. Basically, the customer places their finger on the screen and uses the stylus to touch and interact with the screen. In most cases the finger is treated as a button, but the manufacturer of the product can choose whether to allow a button, track, or similar action based on what their customers decide to do. As the finger interacts with the system, it creates a virtual signal that is then sent either by the touch screen to a device which dials a telephone number, or transmits it to a speaker, who then speaks the selected response to the customer. Most of the time though, the customer speaks into a recording that plays back over the speaker, and that whatever they say is recorded and used for training and product development purposes.

There are many different uses for large touch screens be Beetronics. Some of the most popular applications include education, entertainment, marketing, signage, customer support, training, product demonstrations, and sales presentations. Anytime someone wants to learn a new technique, uses a training tool, or wants to see something being used in real life they can just touch a screen and listen to what is being said. Beetronics has developed so much technology that it is now possible to record a telephone conversation and play it back over the speaker using the same technology as a large touch screen.

One of the interesting applications that we have found in our customer support center is that people often do not understand the words on a screen because they have not learned to speak those words. We call this language acquisition and it is a process that takes time to learn. People without language acquisition problems may call up and ask about a problem they have and we have had multiple calls from clients where the person on the phone did not know what the problem was because they did not use language acquisition techniques to acquire the information. A screen, however, makes it very easy to learn a new word because it immediately translates into a sound or a feeling and a sentence can be created just by touching a button. This is an example of how technology can help people, but it is also an example of why people should not be too quick to accept technology and let it take control.

Imagine if you will, a person without any language acquisition problems who picks up a phone and uses the touch tone feature to order take away at the drive-through window. Almost instantaneously the person can tell what is going on and the waiter in the drive-through window can also tell what is going on and that is the basic grammar of basic communication. However, if the person on the other end of the phone did not use language acquisition methods to acquire the basic grammar of the sentence he just received then the waiter might give the order wrong because he was not taught to use the touch tone feature. The phone will not stop ringing for a long time until the owner of the phone figures out that he does not have to touch the tone button to make a call because the voice on the other end of the phone can tell him what to do with the order. This is why the touch screen wall display is becoming more popular as we speak.

The truth is that children with severe language problems will be able to learn to use the touchtone feature of their new tablet as soon as they are able to operate their little fingers. It is hard to believe that this new technology comes from a little company called “IA”, but it is true. These new tablets are equipped with an advanced multi-touch sensing technology which will allow them to use words and phrases that they only learn to use words that are entered into the tablet via touch input. That is the genius of the iPad multitouch technology and hopefully it will soon find its way into other products.
